Carl Flach is a Danish national lives in China

 

Since Carl graduated from the West German Tanning schools in Reutlingen 1986 he has gathered a lifetime of experience in the hide, leather and shoe industry.

 

Since 2007, he has worked as COO and later as Snr. Director for Operational Strategies for the Global ISA Group.

 

ISA Industrial Ltd is a German invested group established in 1995. With operation facilities in Vietnam, USA and China, it is one of the most recognized manufacturer of shoe leather worldwide, supplying leather to brands like Timberland, Rockport, Clarks, UGG, Nike, Wolverine & Hush Puppies to name a few. Since 2019, the group has also endeavoured into production of other sustainable material than leather to support the brands who want to steer away from products based on fossil fuels with a sustainable alternative.

 

ISA is renowned for its less environmental hostile leather production and has won several awards for this. The factories are ISO9001, ISO14001 and LWG (Leather Working Group) certified (The multi-stakeholder group LWG was founded as a cooperation between brands and the leather manufacturers in 2003 to set up and maintain a protocol that assesses the environmental compliance and performance capabilities of leather manufacturers and promotes sustainable and appropriate environmental business practices within the Leather industry).

 

COSM (Creation of Sustainable Material) was founded in 2018 and was our answer to come up with sustainable plant based alternatives to petro chemical based textiles.

 

In 2016 a majority of the shares was bought by private equity firm Navis Captial Group.

 

Since 2017 elected member of LWG’s Technical Sub Group, working on protocol development

 

Since 2021 active member of The Supervisory Council of Leather Naturally (LN). LN is a not-for-profit industry members association that focuses on education and the promotion of leather. LN promotes the use of globally manufactured sustainable leather and seeks to inspire and inform designers, creators, and consumers about its beauty, sustainable properties, quality and versatility.
