Important Notice for CITES Shipment

  • LICENSING:
    To import, export or possess any endangered species legally, relevant licences must be applied for and obtained for INDIVIDUALSHIPMENTS – IN ADVANCE from the local Government Authorities –Agriculture and Fisheries Department through your Hong Kong Associate Company or THE OFFICE FREIGHT FORWARDER- SCHENKER INT’L (HK) LTD.

    An Import Licence Application, supported with valid documents, (EXPORT PERMITS, LICENCES, INVOICES, ETC..) should be made to this Department well IN ADVANCE – AT LEAST 4 WEEKS for document processing PLUS transit time of freighting to Hong Kong .The issue of a licence, however, is by no means automatic, in certain situations, licences may be refused.

  • IMPORTANT:
    Please note, an Import Licence MUST be obtained IN ADVANCE, i.e. PRIOR to shipment of your cargo to Hong Kong Airport / Seaport.
    That is to say, you must NOT despatch cargo of this nature until confirmation has been received from the OFFICIAL FREIGHT FORWARDER that your Import Licence has been obtained on your behalf – “PLEASE WAIT FOR THE GREEN LIGHT FROM SCHENKER “ 
    N.B. It is an offence for the cargo to arrive in HONG KONG without an import licence. Penalties including forfeiture of specimens, fines or even IMPRISONMENT may be imposed.
    An Export Permit or Cites Papers alone are not sufficient for legal importation of exotics to HONG KONG.

*** ALL CITES SHIPMENTS, EXHIBITORS ARE REQUIRED TO PACK THEIR SAMPLES WITH PROPERLY PACKED (UNDER STRONG WOODEN BOX) IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY DAMAGE DURING TRANSPORATION ***

Overseas exhibits direct to HK seaport by sea LCL: 29 Feb – 2 Mar 2024.
Overseas exhibits direct to HK airport by air: 7 – 8 Mar 2024.
