Circular vs Linear Economy - Leather Naturally explains….

image

Ever wondered about the difference between a Circular Economy and a Linear Economy and how leather plays a part in the circular economy? Find some explanations here:

Circular Economy: It’s all about reducing waste! Instead of the “take, make, dispose” mindset, we aim to reuse, repair, and recycle products to keep them in circulation for as long as possible! This helps protect our planet and its resources.

Linear Economy: This is a “throwaway” lifestyle we take resources from the earth, use them to make products, and then throw those products away when we’re done with them. This creates a lot of waste and can harm the environment, unfortunately.

So, how does leather fit in the Circular Economy?

We use a by-product from the meat industry. Instead of these hides ending up in landfills.

Leather items can be repaired and be restored and brought back to life, avoiding unnecessary waste.

Leather can be recycled and transformed into new products.

Leather products are durable and long-lasting. They can be passed on from generation to generation.

By using products made from leather we reduce waste and support a greener future.
