Apple abandons leather

Apple, the popular consumer electronics brand, has announced that it will no longer offer any products made of leather, writes Leatherbiz.

This decision is claimed to be part of the company’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality for all its products by 2030.

The announcement was made during a live stream event on September 12, for the launch of the highly anticipated iPhone 15 and new Apple Watch.

To replace leather, Apple is introducing a durable twill textile called FineWoven, which is made from 68% recycled content. According to Apple, FineWoven has a subtle shine and a soft, suede-like texture.
