Brazil - August growth for Brazilian leather export volumes

Brazil’s national tanning industry body CICB has reported double-digit growth, in volume for the country’s leather exports for the month of August, reports Leatherbiz.

Quoting government statistics, but pointing out that they were preliminary figures, CICB said tanners and packers in Brazil had exported raw hides and semi-finished and finished leather with a total volume for the month of 40,900 tonnes. The value of these exports was $103.2 million.

These figures represent growth in volume of 26.9% year on year. However, in terms of value, there was a reduction of 2% compared to August 2022.
