Our newest Leatherbiz Market Intelligence report went live on July 11 and is available for subscribers to read here.

One message that stands out in this latest newsletter is the suggestion that the pace of the exodus of manufacturing activity from China will pick up in the near future, with production moving to other locations. This is for political as well as economic reasons, the report said.

Initially, China’s near neighbours in south-east Asia gained most from this, but according to Market Intelligence, manufacturing companies are now casting the net slightly wider.

Three countries that will be in a good position to gain from this shift, according to the report, are places that already have well established leather and leather products industries: India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
