The Leather Working Group (LWG) has provided an update for certified suppliers regarding upcoming mandatory listing on its website, writes ILM.

The LWG noted that it is currently an option for LWG-certified suppliers to opt out of being listed on the LWG website, and less than 1% are not listed publicly on the website.

From September 1, 2023, it will become a requirement of LWG certification that all suppliers be listed on the website. According to the organisation, this will ensure all LWG certifications can be publicly validated via the LWG website and better enable future collaborations.

Suppliers currently not listed on the LWG website will continue to not be listed for the remainder of their current certification and it will continue to be an option for certified suppliers to choose not to be listed on the LWG website if they are audited prior to September 1, 2023.

Upon reauditing or following September 1, it will then be a requirement of certification to be listed on the LWG website.

The LWG has encouraged all certified suppliers to demonstrate their certification and enable it to be verified by brands and other potential customers by being listed publicly on the LWG website.
