Leather coatings and treatments business Stahl has announced that its emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), writes ILM.
Stahl announced the targets when it released its 2022 Environment, Social and Governance report last month.
To date, the company notes that 145 companies in the chemicals sector have submitted an emissions reduction target to the SBTi, of which 61 have had their targets validated.
The targets are:
Reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year.
Committing to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030 from a 2021 base year.
Maarten Heijbroek, CEO of Stahl, said: “The validation of our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reduction targets by the SBTi is an important milestone on our ESG journey as we strive to limit our contribution to global warming, in line with the Paris Agreement.
“Our targets are ambitious, and rightly so. Realising our goal to help create a more responsible coatings value chain starts with being accountable for our own environmental impact and taking concrete steps to reduce our emissions wherever possible.”
We bring leather, material and fashion businesses together: an opportunity to meet and greet face to face. We bring them from all parts of the world so that they can find fresh partners, discover new customers or suppliers and keep ahead of industry developments.
We organise a number of trade exhibitions which focus on fashion and lifestyle: sectors that are constantly in flux, so visitors and exhibitors alike need to be constantly aware both of the changes around them and those forecast for coming seasons.
