Darmstadt University will host an online webinar to discuss the results of its five-year sustainable chemistry research project, writes ILM.

Leather researchers will discuss the key findings of More Sustainable Chemistry along the Leather Supply Chains in this free webinar on November 16.

The project developed a scenario for more sustainable leather chemistry in 2035, with sub-projects added to address specific leverage points.

Results of the project have included a sustainability assessment tool for leather manufacturing processes, an IT-based approach to report chemicals used in supply chains, an assessment of the feasibility of the chemical synthesis of a sugar-based potential tanning agent with milli/microreactors and a ‘Handbook on Leather Design for Sustainable Development’.

The webinar will position the project results in the context of current EU developments related to Sustainable Products Policies and will feature a keynote presentation from the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA).
The conference will be in English and will take place from 10:00-12:00 CET on November 16, 2022. Find out more here.
