The slaughter of cattle increased in the second quarter in Brazil compared to the first three months of the year and also in the annual comparison, according to preliminary data from the Brazilian Geographical & Statistics Institute (IBGE).

 

 

In the beef sector, the statistics institute registered a slaughter of 7.32 million head, 2.7% more than the second quarter of 2021 and 5.2% above the first quarter of this year.


Beef production reached 1.93 million tons carcass weight in the second quarter, with increases of 2.3% compared to the second quarter of 2021 and 5.1% higher than the first three months of this year.
