United States of America - U.S. handbag sales rebound

Sales turnover for women’s bags in the U.S. from March to August 2021 was just 2% lower than pre-pandemic levels in 2019, research and market analysis company NPD Group reveals. Report by ILM.

An analyst at the company commented that the products rebounded faster than expected, likely due to a resurgence of daily travel and social activities prompting more sales of fashion goods. Shoulder bag revenues grew by 14%, while clutch bags increased by 2% and cosmetic cases led the pack with a jump of 48% on 2019 figures. Meanwhile, office briefcases lost ground by 5% and tote bags dropped just 1%.
