“Quiet luxury” or silent luxury is gaining ground among consumers with higher purchasing power. The trend that is seen in clothing reached the bags and wallets of the big brands. Without flashy features, these super-priced products bet on a demure understatement, writes CueroAmérica.

In the midst of an economic context that is hostile in much of the world, consumers of luxury products put aside flashy designs to take refuge in minimalist and sober fashion. The big brands respond to this trend with simple proposals in neutral colors.

According to fashion-focused data analytics firm Retviews, most luxury leather goods brands gravitated toward a sober color palette with black taking precedence. Prada and Gucci included this hue in their collections along with grey, beige, brown and white. Jacquemus opted for neutrality using light and calm colors.

This trend towards sobriety does not apply to prices that remain as eye-catching as ever. The average price of these items is around 2,000 or 2,500 euros, except in the case of Hermes, which has more than half of its offer above 3,500 euros. The brand that offers slightly more accessible alternatives is Prada. 5% of their bags are sold between 500 and 1,000 euros and 10% between 1,000 and 1,500 euros.

Retviews highlighted in its report that sobriety has its price. Bags without a logo sell for higher prices than those with a visible brand name. According to the consultancy, this indicates that companies are targeting a public that is familiar with the products and is looking for greater exclusivity.
