Audi has reported its results for 2022, achieving an increase in all-electric vehicle deliveries of 44% to reach 118,196 units, reports ILM.

Overall vehicle sales for the company in 2022 were 1.61 million units, close to the previous year’s level despite prolonged supply bottlenecks and major challenges in the logistics chain.

Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing, noted: “The strong numbers for the all-electric models show us that our clear focus on electric mobility is the right path.”

In Europe, Audi delivered 624,498 cars in 2022, increasing sales by 1.2% year-on-year, with sales up in 29 European markets. Audi noted that sales in its home market of Germany were a particularly strong contributor, increasing its market share there considerably in 2022.

Down by 4.7% year-on-year due to supply and logistics issues, total deliveries in the U.S. totalled 186,875 cars, while all-electric Audi vehicles totalled 16,177, an increase of 47.3% year-on-year.

Audi also delivered 642,548 cars in China in 2022, a drop of 8.4% year-on-year, which the company attributed to ongoing supply bottlenecks, particularly in semiconductors, as well as production limitations due to Covid-19. All-electric deliveries were up in China by 9.8%.

In other markets, Audi delivered 3.5% fewer cars in 2022 for a total of 160,310, though saw a significant increase in fully electric deliveries at 90.2%. Notable growth achievements in other markets included the Middle East (47.9%), India (27.1%) and Taiwan (22.2%)

“Even though we’re still facing global economic challenges, we’re looking toward the future with confidence,” said Wortmann. “That’s because we’re going into 2023, during which we will accelerate the transformation together, with an attractive portfolio, a large number of orders and a highly motivated team.”
