Europe - The TCLF Skills Alliance advances

Report courtesy of COTANCE

The Textile Clothing Leather and Footwear (TCLF) Skills Alliance Stakeholders Hybrid Event took place on Nov 21, 2023) in Brussels, bringing together 20 on-site and more than 90 online participants. It kicks off an innovative process to communicate on skills developments in education and training in the industries represented by EURATEX – European Apparel and Textile Confederation (Textile & Clothing), European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC) (Footwear) and COTANCE (leather).

The event featured two panels. The first was on best practices for Regional Skills Collaborations in Nouvelle Aquitaine (Felix Lafleurie, Cluster ResoCUIR Nouvelle-Aquitaine & Mariane Mace, Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine), Valencia (Marián Cano, AVECAL – Asociación Valenciana de Empresarios del Calzado), and Tuscany (Alessandro De Rosa, PIN – Polo Universitario Città di Prato). This was followed by invaluable insights on engaging youth and increasing the visibility of TCLF sectors from Julie PONTVIANNE (ITECH LYON) Paulo Gonçalves (APICCAPS, Porto) and Anja Merker (Gotextile, Germany), a key concern of the TCLF Skills Alliance initiative.

Follow our METASKILLS4TCLF and AEQUALIS4TCLF EU-funded projects and find out what we are doing to ensure that the workforce in the TCLF sector across Europe, including Ukraine, is well-equipped for a green and digital future.

The TCLF Skills Alliance is the Textile Clothing Leather and Footwear initiative to support public and private organisations with upskilling and reskilling in the context of the European Commission.

We bring leather, material and fashion businesses together: an opportunity to meet and greet face to face. We bring them from all parts of the world so that they can find fresh partners, discover new customers or suppliers and keep ahead of industry developments.

We organise a number of trade exhibitions which focus on fashion and lifestyle: sectors that are constantly in flux, so visitors and exhibitors alike need to be constantly aware both of the changes around them and those forecast for coming seasons.
