Pima cotton is a higher-end type of cotton with a longer fibr than conventional cotton. It has a reputation for producing a smooth fabric that’s soft to the touch, wrinkle-resistant, and ultra-durable.
Sir Francisco Hilbck (pictured), is pima cotton’s chief historian and grandson on the Peruvian farmer who introduced the world famous variety to Peru in 1922.

To coincide with this centennial anniversary, Naturtex discovers a unique and incredibly intense rust-red eco type of naturally pigmented native cotton, carefully conserved for several generations of women textile artisans in a desert village near Morropon, Piura, Peru.

With their consent, Naturtex will multiply these priceless seeds in its recently initiated organic cotton experimental farm nearby to protect this disappearing cultivar and to distribute seeds to other needy artisans in the neighboring villages.
