One4Leather writes on LinkedIn: t’s one of those choices that seems personal, until you realise just how many drivers are thinking the same way. Whether it’s the sleek elegance of black, the calming tones of grey, or the warmth of beige, the leather you choose says a lot about your taste, lifestyle, and even climate. But have you ever wondered which colour is actually the most popular around the world?
We’ve done the research, deep diving into global OEM data and five years of industry trends, and the answer is clear: 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 leather remains the undisputed champion. It’s everywhere. From executive saloons to high-performance SUVs, black is seen as practical, versatile, and effortlessly timeless. It pairs with almost every exterior and ages well, no surprise then that dealers stock it more than any other.
Coming in second is grey leather, offering a cooler, more modern aesthetic that appeals across premium and mass market models alike. And in third? Beige and tan, still a firm favourite in luxury and warm climate markets where brightness and a sense of spaciousness are key. Each of these hues plays its part in defining the experience of automotive interiors, and none of them are synthetic.
And what about white leather? You’ve probably seen it featured in EVs and minimalist concept cars. But while it may be eye-catching, white leather doesn’t yet crack the global top three for genuine leather interiors. In reality, it’s still a niche choice, often reserved for special editions or bespoke luxury configurations.
So tell us, if you could spec your next car with any leather interior, what colour would you choose, and why?
