The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) in Ireland said that, there is no any sign of technical and scientific basis for the continued suspension of Irish beef exports to China. And DAMF also confirmed that the risk of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Ireland is in the status of negligible.

It is reported that, in May 2020, a dead cow with atypical case of BSE was found in Ireland. And then the GACC announced to suspend processing of beef import declaration from Ireland starting on May 22, 2020. It’s been about half and one year since the suspension. After the new of Brazilian beef ban lifted in December 15, 2021, Ireland is eager for the embargo to be lifted as soon as possible. The DAEM reiterated that the resumption of Irish beef exports to China remains a “high priority objective”.
