The Ecological Leathers certification defines the criteria, of product and process, that the leather must possess to be called “ecological”, and clarifies the meaning to be attributed to word “leather” specifying that only the materials of natural origin may be identified as such. The use of material that artificially reproduces the leather and its appearance, such as synthetics, coated fabrics, etc. is not legitimate.
