Vegtan over “vegan leather” – are you in?
Thomas Lamparter writes on LinkedIn: about Vegtan…..

“Vegan leather” often means plastic dressed up with a green label.

Plant-tanned (veg-tan) leather is the opposite.

  • Tanned with olive pruning, chestnut, mimosa — zero metal or glutaraldehyde.
  • Made from a by-product, not a barrel of oil.
  • Built to last and, at end-of-life, return safely to nature.

If we’re serious about cutting fossil inputs and toxic waste, vegtanned leather shouldn’t be niche — it should be the new baseline.

That’s exactly the direction Brussels is taking with the EU Clean Industrial Deal.
