The Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts (Assintecal) took part in the France Mission, an initiative led by the Brazilian Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments (ApexBrasil), held from 4 to 6 June. By ILM.
The delegation included President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, First Lady Janja Lula da Silva and ApexBrasil President Jorge Viana. Assintecal was represented by Superintendent Silvana Dilly. Representatives from the Brazilian Centre for the Tanning Industry, CICB, were also present at the event.
Dilly highlighted that the mission served not only to promote Brazilian fashion but to underscore its commitment to sustainability and distinctive design.
The event opened with a fashion show featuring five original Brazilian brands, all led by women and committed to using sustainable materials in their creations. The runway show took place at the Café de l’Homme in Paris and was attended by dignitaries including French First Lady Brigitte Macron, alongside Brazilian officials.
Ana Paula Repezza, ApexBrasil’s Director of Business, noted that French consumers are particularly receptive to niche and value-driven products, opening doors for Brazilian fashion to secure new commercial partnerships.
The mission concluded on June 6 with a forum addressing sustainability in Brazil. Discussions centred on the country’s plans for decarbonisation and energy transition, as well as improvements in infrastructure and mobility.
