Growth for Europe’s largest shoe retailer in 2023

Europe’s largest footwear retail group, Deichmann, has reported full-year revenues of €8.7 billion for 2023, an increase of 7% year on year. Report by Leatherbiz.

In the course of last year, Deichmann sold 184 million pairs of shoes, up by 1.4% compared to the figure for 2022.

Its total number of stores increased last year. By the end of 2023, the group had, across 34 countries, a retail footprint of around 4,700 stores, up by 2.2% year on year. Its total number of employees rose too, increasing by 2.1% to reach more than 49,000 people.

The group’s chairman, Heinrich Deichmann, said its performance in 2023, in the face of difficult market conditions, high inflation, consumer restraint and shifting customer preferences, had been “an outstanding international achievement”.
