Italian tanners’ association UNIC and the Italian Leather Research Institute (SSIP) have reportedly aided in the seizure of counterfeit leather belts from Chinese merchants, writes ILM.

The belts were being labelled at 100% leather but, thanks to the support of UNIC and SSIP, were identified as layered materials including but not limited to leather.

The seized goods totalled a commercial value of around €10,000, local news reports, and were taken from Chinese merchants operating in Milan.
