The Leather and Hide Council of America (LHCA) and the African Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) have come together to launch the African Talent Leather Design Showcase 2023. The event seeks to promote the sustainable production of leather and its products among small and medium-sized companies of that Continent.

The two organizations created this showcase of African talent not only to promote their visibility but also to “educate the next generation of creatives and reshape our fashion future.” At the event, there will be a series of workshops on fashion, production and sustainability with the aim of professionally training the next generation of African designers.

The workshops were organized by ALLPI’s design studios located in its ten member countries. During them, tools will be provided to improve business efficiency and minimize negative environmental and social impacts.

Participants will have to design a product that contains at least 50% leather. From there the finalists will be able to create their own design in one of the ALLPI studios. The works will be presented at the All Africa Leather Fair 2023, which will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

We organise a number of trade exhibitions which focus on fashion and lifestyle: sectors that are constantly in flux, so visitors and exhibitors alike need to be constantly aware both of the changes around them and those forecast for coming seasons.
