Pangea notes on Linkedin a great article by Leather Naturally that shows how to spot the differences between Genuine Leather and “synthetic” imitators.

Plastic Feel & Smell vs. Renewable Look & Aroma – How to tell the difference?

Synthetic ‘leather’ is usually made with synthetic landfill components like PU, and PV to have the same appearance as real leather. Sometimes these materials are labeled ‘Vegan Leather’ because they are not derived from animals. Real leather is a by-product of the meat industry. It is a natural, renewable material upcycled from the hides, reducing meats overall landfill waste. If you are looking for more sustainable materials – here are some ways you can tell the difference.
