Three Finalists of the Design-A-Bag Competition 2021 is Revealed!


2021 Competition Theme:
Recycling, Upcycling, Retro-Future.
Redesign in a Sustainable Way.


1/ Upcycling Vintage
Renew shapes & the leather of an iconic bag (classic, luxe, military, army, etc…)


2/ Rethink oldies but goodies
Customize old bags with new leathers


3/ Upgrade leather bags with recycling leather
A new use of the new performant materials


The Finalists
We are delighted to announce the 3 finalists for Design-a-Bag Competition 2021 are:

They will bring along their prototype to attend #DESIGNABAGHK FINAL JUDGING EVENT to compete for the overall winner and the ultimate grand prize sponsored by Arsutoria School (https://www.designaccess-fa.com/prizes/) which will be revealed live virtually at the AWARDING CEREMONY during the sampleroom September Digital Week.


sampleroom (powered by APLF) is a brand-new B2B online social sourcing platform tailored for the leather and fashion community. The theme of the September Digital Week is specifically envisioned with DAB in mind. The DAB Awarding Ceremony together with innovative product launches will be the highlight of the Digital Week.

The Judges
Young and talented designers across 32 countries participated in the competition this year. 3 finalists are selected by 6 judges from Italy, France, Hong Kong and the U.S. according to the entries’ originality, sustainability awareness, wearability & marketability.

Design-A-Bag (DAB) is the only global online bag design event of its kind for freelance designers and design students. The competition is organised by Fashion Access and Arsutoria School who also sponsors the event.

Over the past years since 2007, DAB has brought together a global design community during the Fashion Access in Hong Kong. Innovative creations are showcased to international audience and design concepts exchanged among talents from various cultures and backgrounds.
