EUDR – EUROPEAN COMMISSION PROPOSES POSTPONEMENT AND SIMPLIFICATION OF THE APPLICATION OF THE ANTI-DEFORESTATION REGULATION

The European Commission has published the proposal for postponement and simplification of hashtag#Regolamento (EU) 2023/1115 against hashtag#deforestazione (EUDR).

Updated timelines:

• The entry into application on 30 December 2025 for medium-large companies has been confirmed, but with a transitional phase without controls and penalties until 30 June 2026.
• Postponement to 30 December 2026 for micro and small enterprises (6-month extension compared to previous provisions);

Main changes:

• Introduction of a “simplified declaration” for micro and small enterprises, replacing the full due diligence obligations;
• Exclusion of downstream operators and traders from the obligation to submit due diligence declarations in the hashtag#EUDR IT system.

However, these entities will have to store and transmit information along the supply chain.

The proposal will now have to be examined by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.
