Fashion Brand's Dilemma on Sustainable Materials

According to Nielsen, a significant 73% of millennials are willing to spend more for sustainable products, propelling brands towards eco-friendly solutions. However, research indicates there are a number of challenges that brands face in becoming fully sustainable.

According to a report by McKinsey & Company, 60% of fashion executives identified supply chain traceability as a significant obstacle to implementing sustainable practices.

Cost Concern

A survey conducted by the Ethical Fashion Forum revealed that, 70% of brands face increased costs when using sustainable materials, posing a significant challenge in striking a balance between pricing and sustainability.

Material Availability

The Fashion for Good initiative indicated that 48% of brands struggle with the availability of sustainable materials, limiting their ability to fully commit to sustainable sourcing practices.

Certification Challenges

A report from the Global Fashion Agenda noted that more than 50% of brands find it difficult to navigate the various sustainability certifications, complicating the sourcing process.

Innovation Gaps

According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, over 50% of brands express a need for more innovative sustainable materials to meet their sustainability goals.
