The Tariff Commission of the State Council recently published the tariff schedule that came into effect from January 1, 2026. <strong>Report by CueroAm\u00e9rica<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><br>The changes include interim tariff reductions for hundreds of products. Under the new plan, China will apply lower interim import tariffs to 935 products. The move aims to ease pressure on local manufacturers by making imported critical raw materials and components cheaper.  <\/p>\n<p><br>They assure that the leather industry is among the main beneficiaries. Wet-blue, full-grain and other chrome-tanned bovine leather will see their MFN tariff reduced from 6% to 3% in 2026. Wet-blue sheep and goat hides will also get relief with reduced tariffs from 14% to 10%.  <\/p>\n<p><br>According to the GOC, these tariff cuts are temporary and below the standard MFN (Most Favoured Nation) rates. The aim is to improve the supply of raw materials for the Chinese leather, apparel, footwear and upholstery sectors by 2026. <\/p>\n<p><br>At the same time, China has reinstated MFN tariffs on some imports that previously enjoyed lower rates. This decision reflects changes in domestic supply and demand as local industries adapt and grow. <\/p>\n<p><br>China continues to grant MFN tariff treatment to all WTO member countries, subject to specific exceptions.
