Dr. Yunhang Zeng is a Professor at the College of Biomass Science and Engineering, Sichuan University, China. She received her Ph.D. in Leather Chemistry and Engineering from Sichuan University and has dedicated her career to advancing sustainability in the leather industry. Her research focuses on sustainable leather manufacturing, biotechnology in leather processing, and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for the leather industry. Dr. Zeng is actively engaged in the global leather community. She serves as Associate Editor of Leather Science and Engineering and is a Committee Member of the IUE Commission of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS), the IULTCS ISO Technical Committee, and the Science and Technology Committee of the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA).
Dr. Zeng received the first IULTCS Young Leather Scientist Award. She has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) for 21 research projects. These projects aimed at developing sustainable leather chemicals and innovative leather processing technologies, encompassing national-level programs under the National Science and Technology Major Projects and the National Key R&D Programs, as well as grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Additionally, she has directly collaborated with leather chemical companies and tanneries. She has published 54 research papers as either the first or corresponding author, holds 32 authorized Chinese invention patents, and has contributed to the development of two National Standards and one Industry Standard.
