Following the communication COTANCE received from MEP Christine Schneider (EPP, Germany), EU Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall proposed a further postponement of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

It is now up to the European Parliament and Member States to work together to approve this postponement & start a fundamental revision.

COTANCE calls on the European Commission to take advantage of this postponement for adopting the delegated act for removing from Annex 1 hides, skins and leather, which are not drivers of deforestation. This would redress an untenable situation for the leather supply chain.
