Bridge of Weir

It quoted 2020 figures that put the average consumption of water in tanneries in Europe at about 600 litres of water per hide, or around 121 litres per square-metre of finished leather produced. It sad this meant a pair of shoes made from this leather would have a water impact of 44 liters.

It added that innovative technologies are already in place driving further improvement.
