Dr. Greg Thoma is Director of Agricultural Modeling and Life Cycle Assessment with Colorado State University’s AgNext program. He serves as Subject Editor for Agriculture for the *International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment*. He is a board member of the International Lifecycle Academy in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Thoma has played an active role in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ Livestock Environmental Assessment and Performance (LEAP) partnership. He was the scientific lead for one of LEAP’s inaugural technical advisory groups on poultry supply chains and also co-led advisory groups for swine production and large ruminants. He also served on LEAP advisory groups focused on biodiversity and nutrient cycling and contributed to guidance documents that are used globally by LCA practitioners evaluating agricultural sustainability. He is currently a member of the International Dairy Federation LCA working group.
He led the most recent work, funded by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and the Leather and Hide Council of America, evaluating the US beef system, including assessment of hides as raw materials for the global tannery sector.
