Theft in the hide vault

The gang of thieves, presumably composed of at least ten people, began moving around midnight. They stole nine vehicles in Malo and other nearby towns. Around 4:00 a.m., several vehicles were positioned to block the access roads leading to the gang’s target, the Bottega Veneta warehouse in Molina di Malo. The gang then moved on to the next phase, using vehicles as battering rams to first break down the entrance gate, then one of the main doors. Using a forklift, they broke down another door. They located the vault where the hides to be stolen were stored, and then, by forcing their way in, the thieves gained access.

The value of the stolen goods

Meanwhile, the alarm went off for private security, who noticed the theft in progress. A race against time began, won by the thieves, who managed to load the stolen leather into two stolen vans and flee down a secondary exit road. The value of the stolen goods, according to the Giornale di Vicenza newspaper, which reconstructed the incident, was estimated at approximately €200,000. When the private security guards arrived, there was no trace of the gang that had carried out the massive theft. The Carabinieri intervened on the scene and opened an investigation.
