One of the U.K.’s most iconic footwear retailers looks like it may soon be under new management, writes Glenn Taylor of Sourcing Journal.
Hong Kong-based private equity firm LionRock Capital has announced its intention to acquire a majority stake in footwear group C&J Clark Limited. It said the Clark family would continue to be “a key shareholder” in the 195-year-old business, reports Leatherbiz.
In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the iconic Desert Boot, Clarks has created an exclusive new version. With a chrome-free suede upper, an OrthoLite footbed, an additional layer of crepe on the outsole and a last engineered for optimum comfort, it maintains the versatility and authenticity of the original, while adding a few unique twists all of its own.
Leatherbiz reports that footwear brand Clarks has reported sales of £1.7 billion for the year to January 31, an 8% increase compared to the previous year.
Footwear group Clarks has appointed Mike Shearwood as its new chief executive officer. He was previously the chief executive of fashion brand Karen Millen. Previously, he was part of the leadership teams at other fashion companies, including Aurora Fashions, Mosaic and Inditex. Report by Leatherbiz.
