The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has published a special report on climate change and land, presenting its findings at an event in Geneva on August 8, reports Leatherbiz.
Leatherbiz reports that animal nutrition and health solutions provider DSM has formally filed for authorisation in the European Union to start selling a new feed additive for cows. The company claims that the product will reduce methane emissions by around 30% and, thereby, reduce that environmental footprint of cattle and all the products and by-products they produce.

Leatherbiz reports that Australia’s feeder cattle exports so far in 2019 have increased 25% compared to the same period in 2018, according to Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), reaching 329,000 head. MLA said this consistent supply of live cattle for shipment overseas reflected a disappointing wet season in Australia.
University of California, Davis, animal science and air quality expert, Professor Frank Mitloehner, has said he is preparing to publish a consequential lifecycle assessment of cattle farming in the face of opposition to that part of the agricultural economy from groups who want to promote other types of protein.
