China and ICHSLTA come closer on arbitration rules
 |
With China such a dominant player in the international leather industry, ICHSLTA is keen that its arbitration scheme in trade disputes in buying and selling hides and skins is used as widely as possible in China to smooth the international trade.
At present, arbitration in China is governed by rules and regulations laid down by CIETAC, the China International Trade Arbitration Committee. But Madam Zhang Shuhua, vice president of the China Leather Industry Association, is optimistic that a common basis can be found between China and the rest of the world. She says that the government will allow the industry to change its rules. "We are encouraged by the government to regulate ourselves," she says.
Mr Pierre Bonefant, president of ICHSLTA, says that the use of the association Number 6 and 7 contracts in trading hides and skins with China started in 1998. Today their use is increasing and he is delighted with this latest development |
