Automotive group BMW has revealed it will invest US$600 million between 2018 and 2021 in its plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, which it describes as its “largest manufacturing facility”, reports Leatherbiz.
The plant is responsible for building the BMW X models. It is currently preparing to start production of the BMW X7, which will be launched in the market in late 2018.
In its announcement, BMW said it had invested a total of US$8 billion in the Spartanburg facility since announcing the decision to build it in 1992.
The plant currently employs 9,000 people and BMW is committed to creating a further 1,000 jobs there by 2021.
