13 December 2016

Vietnam’s ministry of labour has proposed an increase in the number of hours’ overtime workers there are permitted to work, reports international news site Leatherbiz.

At the moment, most workers are restricted to 200 hours’ overtime per year, although a concession is in place for leather production and for other labour-intensive industries; currently, tannery workers are allowed to work 300 hours’ overtime per year.

The new proposal, which the labour ministry suggests will help Vietnam to stay competitive, is to increase the limit to 600 hours per year.
