Leather-cutting technology provider Lectra has announced a new version of its Versalis system, Versalis Offline, reports Leatherbiz

An opening ceremony hosted by Chairman of ECCO Leather Dieter Kasprzak and attended by a number of VIP guests marked the opening of an advanced high-tech leather cutting plant next to the company’s tannery in Xiamen, China. The new plant is destined to be a centre for leather cutting excellence of the ECCO Leather Group.
Leatherbiz reports that leather manufacturer the Scottish Leather Group (SLG) has confirmed that it will create 100 new jobs in Paisley. The group already runs a wet-end tannery in Paisley, as well as a second wet-end tannery and a separate finishing plant at nearby Bridge of Weir (the group also runs a tannery in the east end of Glasgow). With an existing workforce of more than 800, SLG is already one of the largest leather manufacturing groups in Europe.
Automated cutting technology provider Lectra used its annual automotive conference (March 7-8) to unveil the latest version of its Versalis automated leather cutting machine.
