Artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collections, Virgil Abloh, has designed and launched a new men’s leathergoods line for the luxury fashion house, Aerogram, reports Leatherbiz.
The collection’s name is directly inspired by the aerogram “tradition” and represents “heritage for today”, the brand said on social media. (An aerogram - or air letter - is a paper letter sent via airmail that is folded to form a lightweight envelope.)
Louis Vuitton described its “soft, finely grained black calf leather” Aerogram pieces as featuring bias-cut edges, paired with “traditional detailing”. The collection includes a backpack, messenger bag, tote bag and slingbag, plus iPad and phone pouches, three different styles of wallet and a pocket organiser.
The brand said that the contemporary line “embodies Louis Vuitton’s signature Art of Travel” and, on account of its namesake, is “intertwined with the history of aviation itself”.
