Hidenet’s Vera Dordick reports that in the US it was a short week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday and so trading was very light with Heavy Texas Steers reportedly traded at last week’s levels of US$28 for 64-66lb average.

US slaughter was down as expected at 556,000 but export sales were healthy for w/e 21 November at 619,700 and shipments reached 530,700.

In Europe UK 36+ ox was more active and sold at 77pence per kilo. Cows and bulls throughout Europe were virtually unchanged. Vera also remarks that the outlook for January in Arzignano is not overoptimistic.

In South America, rawhide in Brazil did not move and are still at US cents 14 But top grade TR1 wet blue did firm slightly to US cents 48 – 50 per sq ft

Higher slaughter continues in Argentina and the leather sector in Uruguay is going through a tough phase at the moment with few exports.
