A new technical centre for the footwear industry has opened in Vietnam, a joint initiative between the host country and Italy. The new establishment, called the The Italy-Vietnam Footwear Industry Technology Centre, is an initiative announced two years ago at talks between the two countries in Hanoi.
Located in the Di An district of Binh Duong province, in the south of Vietnam, the centre is equipped with up-to-date footwear manufacturing technology from Italy. Its aim will be to help Vietnamese manufacturers improve the quality of the shoes they produce, through consulting and workforce training programmes, as well as through technology transfer.
