Manifattura di Domodossola, a fourth generation Italian company founded in 1913, is the worldwide leader in the production of braided articles, ribbons, cords and fabrics. The articles are manufactured in a variety of materials such as leather, natural fibres, copper and synthetics mainly for belts, leather goods, upholstery, jewelry, clothing and footwear companies.
Multiple colours and designs are available depending on clients’ needs and almost everything produced is manufactured based on orders received. The company also manufactures leathergoods at its Italian manufacturing facility.
Currently the company is managed by Silvia Polli and her sister and has been handed down from generation to generation. In fact, Ms Polli’s father chose the first Hong Kong International Leather Fair back in 1984 to exhibit his braids when it was held in a car park.
Nowadays the company produces a vast range of braids and is vertically integrated as it produces the yarns and other materials it uses in its factory and controls the manufacturing process right through to the finished product. The company employs approximately 90 people and the number of items produced by Manifattura di Domodossola is well over three thousand to cater to the requirements of its international clientele that are to be found in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Ms Polli noted that the company only exhibits at APLF in Asia as it is a global event and attracts buyers worldwide.
“Today has been a busy day and we are very happy,” stated Ms Polli as the interview ended and she stood up to attend another interested buyer.
